📚 Application Instructions For Applicants
The United World Colleges National Committee in Vietnam (UWC Vietnam) invites high school students to apply to the United World Colleges (UWC) Scholarship Program. UWC Vietnam accepts both applications sent via our online portal or through email. UWC Vietnam will select applicants based on their merits and nominate selected students to UWCs based on their financial needs. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply.
Every year, there are about 10 - 15 offers from UWCs all around the world to Vietnamese students. These offers are up to 100% scholarship for the tuition fee and living costs.
Requirements
1. Eligibility
Applicants to this scholarship program must meet all three following conditions:
a. Vietnamese citizens and currently living in Vietnam,
b. Currently enrolled in high school (grade 10, 11, or 12), and
c. Be between 16 and 18 of age when starting school in September every year.
2. Requirements
Successful applicants should demonstrate the following qualities:
a. Intellectual Curiosity and Motivation
A genuine urge to learn about the world around oneself and the ability to recognize the details and grasp the breadth of issues (for example global and local concerns) involved in any given topic and to analyze them thoroughly.
b. Active Commitment
The ability to develop and readiness to reflect, question and confront one’s own values, to measure one’s behavior within family and community against one’s values, and to act on one’s own beliefs accordingly and responsibly.
c. Social Competence
The ability and readiness to make contact with other people, to interact respectfully with them, to work together with them in a team and to achieve solutions; the ability to express oneself adequately in different situations and to different people.
d. Resilience, Personal Responsibility, and Integrity
The ability to look after oneself physically and emotionally during the challenging and transforming experience that a UWC offers; the personal motivation to adhere to UWC’s common moral and ethical principles, a sense of humility and an ability to listen and value another person’s opinion and experience.
e. Motivation for UWC
Passion, ability, and serious incentive to contribute to and actively promote UWC’s values.
3. Preference
Other things being equal, preference will be given to a student who would not otherwise have access to such an experience or who would gain the most from the Opportunity. Therefore, students from rural areas and students from disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply for this program.
Please note that we do not require any certificates of English proficiency or any other qualifications. However, successful candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English.
Selection and Nomination Process
Eligible candidates must register online at https://apply.uwc.org/ to create an applicant account and fill in all requested information on the Application Form or send the application package to email admission@uwcvn.org before the deadline.
Completed applications will be reviewed and a number of applicants will be interviewed online by UWC alumni, then candidates will take part in the Activity Round. The Final round is an 1-on-1 interview with the Selection Committee.
Selected candidates will be nominated by UWC Vietnam to the relevant United World Colleges and the United World Colleges will confirm their acceptance and guide students to the further process directly. Newly accepted students normally arrive at their United World Colleges in August 2024.
